In the mid-sized city of Entroncamento, architect Andre David of adarq architects has reimagined eighteen former railway workers' houses dating back to 1920. The renovated neighbourhood, featuring two blocks, a central green space, and a celebrated tile panel by Álvaro Siza, also incorporates the National Railway Documentation Center, an exhibition space, and a Science Center. Roca collaborated on the bathroom design throughout the housing complex and cultural centres.
The renovation embraced the original compact housing plan, adapting it for contemporary living. Bathrooms across the single-family homes and townhouses follow a consistent template: grey walls, grey marble countertops, and white ceramics, including Roca's Foro under countertop basin and Meridian basin. In the public spaces, the Inspira wall-hung toilet anchors a clean, modern aesthetic, complemented by the Euret electronic urinal and Access folding grab bars for enhanced accessibility. Roca's contribution ensures the project's longevity while honouring Entroncamento's rich railway heritage.
