The transformation of a Brutalist, Grade II listed water tower in the English countryside into a contemporary, sustainable family home reflects the perseverance and passion of the tower’s owners, Matt and Ali Grey and their two daughters. The family oversaw every step of the meticulous renovation of the 1960s, Edmund Percy-designed Tonwell tower, prioritising energy efficiency and comfort, along with mid-century modernist style. Roca made a reliable partner in the project, providing sustainable, design-led solutions that adapted to the unique demands of the historic structure.
A central feature of the renovation project was the bathroom design, with Roca providing key products in four bathrooms. The main en-suite bathroom showcases the Roca Beyond collection in matte white, including the sleek Beyond wall-hung WC and the sculptural Beyond Totem basin, which fit elegantly with the home’s modernist interiors. The freestanding Surfex® Beyond bath is a highlight of this space, a cosy, enveloping bath for relaxing moments. Roca’s W+W was an ideal solution to the more compact bathroom spaces. Its space-saving design, and unique curving form, integrates the basin and toilet into one unit while its greywater recycling system ensures it is an eco-friendly solution. Roca’s Insignia faucets and Tempo accessories in chrome finish were selected for their flexible style, easy-clean surfaces, and water-saving technology.
